Device contamination is associated with increased costs to the hospital.

ROCKY MOUNT, NC — Syntervention, Inc. Announced today that it has launched its 3rd product for sale and distribution in the US. The GUIDE-KLIP Medical Device Retention Tool is a sterile, water-resistant clip designed to reduce accidental device contamination by holding and organizing guidewires, catheters, IV tubing and cables in the patient-care setting.

Physicians use a number of guidewires, catheters and other expensive devices during interventional procedures. These products are as long as 12 feet and are spring-like in design. Their sterility needs to be maintained in a limited workspace so there is a demand for easy-to-use, cost-effective tools to organize and hold them in place within the sterile field.

The GUIDE-KLIP, now available in the small size, it can be used throughout the hospital to organize IV tubing and cables in both sterile and non-sterile procedures. Future sizes will be available in 2021.
“In my personal experience with interventional procedures, I’ve witnessed hundreds of cases where devices such as guidewires, catheters, stents, and similar devices have fallen off the table to a non-sterile surface and become contaminated. They must be thrown out and the cost to replace the device is anywhere from $25-$5000, and this doesn’t account for the time lost during the procedure.” said Norm Furbush, Syntervention Founder and President. “Our company is committed to the elimination of preventable contamination during invasive medical procedures, a problem that adds to hospital costs and complications that are often under-reported”.
